In June 2020, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence supported the efforts of the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF) at the Office of Naval Intelligence via Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 directives.
The establishment of UAPTF – a successor to the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) – was approved by Deputy Secretary of Defense David L. Norquist in August 2020.
